Climate change is the most pressing environmental challenge of our time and understanding the decarbonisation agenda is a must for any fleet manager in the 21st century. This course provides and overview of decarbonisation, an introduction to its jargon and how to prepare for net zero.

You will gain an appreciation of the impact of carbon emissions, and the moral, economic and legal case for decarbonising the fleet. You will also learn how to prepare your operation for a carbon zero future whilst gaining confidence and competence in the decarbonisation minefield.

This is a 3-hour online course counting as one optional module towards the FORS Practitioner qualifications.

The FORS discount is not transferable to a non-FORS operator. Improper use of a FORS ID to achieve an ineligible discount will result in training records and certificates being revoked.

    What objectives does the course cover?

    The course provides participants with an introduction to the decarbonisation agenda relevant to the road fleet sector.


    By the end of the training course, participants will be able to:


    • Explain the importance of decarbonising the fleet and why road fleet is a high priority
    • Examine the regulatory landscape and why decarbonisation relates to the FORS Standard
    • Understand decarbonisation key terms and phrases
    • Explore the three Rs of sustainability – record, report, reduce – and the decarbonisation options available to fleet operators
